DBQ: Medulla Thickness and Urine Concentration (p.248)

1 a) It may be that the solute concentration of urine increases as the habitat of the mammal is more dry or desert based.

3 a) An increase in the RMT = MSC, as it increases too.

b) The loop of Henle should be more longer in length when the medulla is thicker because the longer the loop, the higher the RMT value would be. Also, the medulla would be more concentrated when thicker causing the loop of Henle to be longer.
